Our Learning Quest this week!

We started our week with new learning challenges!
This is our roadmap for this week:

Ask your child what they were able to complete today!
If you your child was away, please find the details about our weekly tasks here (Note: we haven't started all tasks in this link, yet).

Calvin's Thought of the Week:
I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.  I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

Michael Jordan

Writing Challenge | Fairytales & Different Perspectives

This week we are discussing about putting ourselves in somebody else's shoes. In writing, we watched a video about the book "The True Story of The Three Little Pigs" by Jon Scieszka. Students saw that different characters can present different point of view about the same events. Their challenge is to retell a classic tale from a perspective other than the main character. This could be a secondary character, like the woodsman in Little Red Riding Hood, or a villain, like the stepmother in Cinderella.

Science | Endangered Animal Research Project

Students continue to present their research to their classmates. The presentations continue to spark several discussions about the needs of animals and how similar threats are impacting different animals around the globe. Ask your child if they have presented and which presentation/animal research is their favourite so far!

Science | Butterflies Experiment

Today we started to transfer our caterpillar to a larger cage. That is the beginning of the third stage of the butterfly life cycle: the pupa.

The pupa stage is one of the coolest stages of a butterfly’s life.  As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and they have reached their full length/weight, they form themselves into a pupa, also known as a chrysalis.  From the outside of the pupa, it looks as if the caterpillar may just be resting, but the inside is where all of the action is.  Inside of the pupa, the caterpillar is rapidly changing.
