Science | Testing Paper Bridges

This week we discussed that a bridge is meant to stay in one place and let things move across the top of it. It needs to be strong and stable to hold the moving loads. There are many different shapes for bridges. Different bridge shapes are used depending on what the bridge’s job will be. Students tested how to create a bridge using only paper and how to make their bridges stronger.

Below are a few examples of our paper bridge testing. Students added a video on SeeSaw to explain their experiments.

Writing Paragraphs

We have been working to organize our ideas into neat and clear paragraphs. We used a graphic organizer called Sandwich paragraph this week to create a story about animal astronauts.
Each paragraph has at least 5 sentences, including a introduction and details:

1. Introduction / Topic Sentence
2. Supporting Details
3. Supporting Details
4. Supporting Details
5. Concluding Sentence
