Math | How much is that cost?

Mathematics is part of our daily lives. Students are encouraged to evaluate numbers and think about what they see.

How much is the cost of this olive oil? $4? $6.99?

The bigger number is not always the answer. When shopping, ask your child to look at savings and compare prices and products. What is better: a box of 20 cookies for $2.00 or 30 cookies for $2.50?

Math | Subtracting 3-digit numbers
Yes, We Love Math!
Lately, we have been practicing addition and subtraction of large numbers. Today we watched the video below from the Khan Academy and practice equations and word problems.

Writing Challenge: Compare and Contrast
Since last week, we have been learning transition words and a structure to compare and contrast. Comparing and contrasting is necessary for interaction with different ideas, objects, events, objects, etc. Finding differences and/or similarities helps students organize both new and known information. We have been practicing using a graphic organizer to jot down our notes and ideas before writing with complete sentences:

Ask your child about their work on writing!
