Tuesday - February 12, 2019

Canadiana Musical Theatre Company
Today we watched the performance Pier 21 at our school.
Pier 21 was a rich heartfelt musical featuring Celtic music and swing music.  It reflects upon the adventures, heartaches and hopes of refugees, immigrants, orphans, and war brides,  as they come through the gate-way to Canada to make a new life in a new land.

Our writing challenge for this week will be a story based on the play and students' reflections about some of the struggles we faced during war or during immigrating to a foreign country.

Byblos Bakery | "For Pita's Sake"
The program, called “For Pita's Sake,” is still going strong. This program has been designed to teach healthy eating habits consistent with Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating and this fits in perfectly with the school health curriculum

It's also popular because it is presented by a registered dietician. Not only do we teach about our products, but also how they can easily fit into a healthy eating pattern.

Our class will participate on February 21st. Each child is responsible fro bringing in healthy ingredients to put in their pita. Pitas and hummus will be provided by Byblos Bakery.

For more information, please read the yellow message sent today with your child.
